Poem of the Week:
Rule 1: Sound of oo and ou in moon and soup. Read through the poem and focus on the words with oo and ou. Ask your child what the vowel sound is in those words. You can also ask them if they can stretch out the word! They will know what to do! The kids love to come up with a long list of other words that have the same sound! Try it!
Examples:
hoop boot moose group soup
Rule 2: Contractions with 'll, 'm, n't, and 's
Contractions are when you combine two words into one shorter word with an apostrophe. We can make we will into we'll. Read the poem and have your child pick out the contractions. See how many they can come up with! When you are reading look for them and point them out. Then ask what two words are combined.
Have fun!
